Performing Arts Program

Bring it to the Marley

The Prince George's County chapter established an ongoing partnership with Jay Staten in 2017.  Jay founded the "Bring it to the Marley" production, in 2013, with the sole purpose of exposing young children, of color, to the many forms of artistic dance expression that are readily available to children of other ethnic backgrounds.  His annual production showcases more than 100 children by allowing them to perform ballet, jazz, tap, modern and hip-hop dance techniques for live audiences without the pressure of competition.

The Prince George’s County Chapter’s objective, in its partnership with Jay Staten, is to provide much needed funding to both sustain the annual program and to contribute to the funding of scholarships, which are awarded annually to fund supplies and continued studies for the dance schools.  Individual scholarships are also awarded to participating students to alleviate the cost of their continued dance study.
